This community in Luqolweni does not have a building for a school yet but the headman has already donated a sight for one to be built. When we visited, the mothers, children and leading men gathered to meet us on top of the hill. Here a mother appeals for help and offers her service to start the school food garden.
The community of Luqolweni approached us some weeks ago to help them building their own pre-school. In this outback of the Mankosi region there are no school facilities and no help from the government to be expected. We agreed to support them on certain conditions. They will build the school themselves and no wages or profits for anyone are allowed. Last week the deal was settled with the Chief of Mankosi and the community. Stichting Obonto will pay for the costs of the building materials and further assist Luqolweni pre school after the building is done. Eager giving their children a bright future the community started laying the foundation early this week and planning to finish the building in four months from now. Umntu, Ngumntu, Ngabantu, Ubuntu!
